The ones you got made by Allen are probably about the same thing as the old Satellite broadheads which were state of the art and got pass throughs with the slower compound bows we used the 80's. Probably still do about as well as the newer fixed blade broadheads as long as you use sharp blades and get decent shot placement.

I've bought em before. I'd rather take my chances with Carbon Express broadheads...

Pretty Solid thread on Allen broadheads here.

        And my personal fave...

I just bought my first ones earlier today. Got slick trick grizztrick 2's. 3 for 30$ just went with what the shop suggested... All good reviews from what I've seen on a Google search

X2 I have killed a lot of Deer, Hogs, Turkeys and a few Coyotes with them and still use a lot of the original blades with a touch up on the sharpener. I have never had one come apart or lost an animal. That is due to proper placement and knowing your distance limits as much as the broad head doing its job properly.

Buy a pack of heads you can resharpen at home...should only have to buy a pack every few years.

Though I don't shoot them anymore, I still have a 4 pack of hellrazors laying around that have been through a bunch of animals. Only have to touch them up on a stone to get them shaving sharp again.

Little situation to think about....you spend $500 to $1000 for a bow, $100 to $500 for accessories, arrows, lease, travel, feeders, trail cameras, stands, binocs, rangefinder, clothing, boots......and on and on and on, not to mention the hours of practice and stand time...................and FINALLY.... here he comes, that buck you have thought and dreamed about, inside 20 yards, quartering away, you draw, aim, and release. What is the first thing that hits that deer??? The broadhead! Why would anyone not buy the best broadhead on the market, that you have the most confidence that they could have?

Maybe because he didn't build a $1500 bow. Lots of us don't have the money to do that. And my $500 PSE Stinger rig with NAP Thunderheads kills just as well as anyone's Mathews with some 15 dollar broadhead.

Another thing to consider is where you are hunting. I like to shoot replaceable blades because we have tons of rocks. Any miss or pass through and even some chest shots that hit rib will bend a blade to where it can't be reused. I would assume, that it would do the same to lots of broadheads, so I don't shoot fixed blade.

Ya, the point I was attempting to make was the broadhead is the business end of your equipment and is what does the killing. After all the time and effort to get that dream shot, don't scrimp on them.

I bought a pack because they looked similar to the thunderheads and were cheap but the ones I had would not fly straight.
