My son really wants a Beagle. Anybody have a suggestion on a good place to get one?

We have a female beagle (got her at 8 weeks)....... she was never a very good or "fun" dog for my son.
she didn't fetch or rough house or chase....... Not the dog I would pick for a young kid that wants a companion.
she's old now but was a real good hunting dog for rabbits, squirrels, coons.......
JMO, good luck.

Beagles
Our beagle is a fun, playful, crazy little dude. All he wants to do is play. He is constantly looking for attention. They are a pain in the butt as inside dogs cause they are curious and can damage some stuff but we love the rascal anyways. Our Archie can also eat a cow if we let him..lol
We got ours from Froggy on here. Froggy is good people and his beagles so far are awesome. We will most likely get another in the near future.
Archie all grown up. 9 weeks to 5 months this past Halloween.
Archie loves his sisters.
Pooped out from playing.
Archie's first Christmas present.

Here's two of my 6 month old girls. They only weigh about 10 lbs and are about 10 inches at the shoulder. They are just starting to hunt. I've also had them on a couple of mock blood trails. Their great grandpa is Post Oak Little Nip Otis who is in the Gundog Hall of Fame
I'll be attending the Trinity Valley Beagle Club Field Trial this weekend. I look forward to seeing some great hounds work. There will be field trialers from several states there.

I wait for Froggy....
Beagles is playful and love kids... I didn't get mine from Froggy but I will the next time if he's still raising them.Last edited by Mike Javi Cooper; 08-31-2014, 05:21 AM.

The only thing I could say from owning one is that Beagles are born to run and hunt. If you don't have ALOT of time to spend with them afield and let them do their thing, then I always suggest to look at another breed. I love to hear a beagle on the trail, but I hate to see one fenced in and not having the chance to do what is in its nature to do.

We got ours this time last year from a breeder in Louisiana. DXT_TACTIC is family and he got his Beagle there too.
He's just a house dog and we don't have kids. He does have anxiety where it takes a few minutes to calm him down when we get home, even if we weren't gone but a few minutes. He doesn't really get into trouble outside of digging, really. He doesn't bark or howl as much as I though Beagles did, but when he does, watch out! He is a ball of energy, but I don't mind one bit. It's better than anything on cable. I wouldn't switch breads for anything! I love this lil guy!
