Someone almost took me out on a bridge in Georgetown last night! You could clearly see sleet on the bridge and as I was about 3/4 across I see fast approaching headlights in the center lane and I knew he/she was going too fast and then the headlights start going left to right and I was just praying that I got across to better pavement before they completely lost it! They ended up getting ahold of it but I guarantee you their dairy air was puckered and limped it on home!

ya I watched a little Nissan sentra coming into 183 in Leander from old 183 do a couple donuts while I was driving past, ppl think because the road looks just WET no big deal, They need to slow the HE...LL down before someone gets killed.

Correction, the wrecks are due to idiot drivers who don't realize that the friction of the road is greatly reduced due to ice on the roads.
In other words, ice is slick.

I was there last weekend. It doesn't take ice for those folks to have numerous wrecks. They drive crazy!!!!! And I lived there in the 80's and 90's. Don't miss that place at all.

Over 200 accidents overnight in San Antonio. Rain, cold and wind don't mix well together. Come on people don't go out if you don't have to. It took 20 minutes to thaw the truck this morning.

Not sure how much yall have down there but I work in the Sherman area and we had 4 or more inches of sleet and freezing rain in early December. That crap was on the highways for 4 days straight and on the side roads for 7. It was a nightmare! I only worked a few 10-50's but that was mostly because the semi trucks couldn't make the hills and kept the Hwy at a stand still. We had people on the Hwy and in their cars for 8+ hours.

Back in '85 when San Antonio got the big snow, lots of wrecks naturally. I remember one interview with a young woman. Went like this:
Newsman: "Could you describe what happened?"
Woman: "Well I was driving like normal, about 65, and all of a sudden I was going sideways and around and around."
Newsman: "Didn't you hear the warnings about the ice on bridges?"
                      Woman: "Really?"
Newsman: "Yes. What did you do?"
Woman: "Well, I laid down in the seat and curled up and hollered for my Momma."

                      DUH!
