    Lost engagement ring diamond already

I purchased my fiances engagement ring from Robbins Brothers and have had nothing but problems with it so far. Long story short the original ring I gave her back in August had to be completley remade. She has only had the new ring for three months and today one of the small stones around the center diamond fell out. Robbins Brothers is replacing the stone for free, because that is their warranty, but has anybody lost a stone from a ring that was this new?

And this is not a cheap setting. Its made in white gold and the setting alone was almost 8k. I would think something that cost that much shouldnt fall apart this fast. Any ideas or suggestions?

They don't have a great reputation.

Have an independent jeweler look at it for you when you get it back.

the setting can get snagged on something like a sweater or other fabric and this can happen, glad you had insurance on it.

I have heard nothing but good things about them, but who knows. My wife's ring was custom made by an individual, setting and all. He was recommended by a few as being the best in the Dallas area. However, she has had 2 diamonds fall out. Granted, hers has tiny diamond inlays around each side of the band, which are the diamonds falling out. They are always replaced for free, but they explained that sometimes the custom settings have difficulty holding the diamonds in because structural integrity is compromised to get a certain look or style.

My center diamond was loose, we sent it to the jewelers to tighten it up. It came back with a different stone. It was not the same perfection as the original stone. These were supposed to be reputable jewelers. I don't think I would trust as jewelers. I guess jokes is on us who have no clue what we are looking at but are willing to pay thousands of dollars for it.

Yep those settings are made for very careful wear and even the sonic cleanings can knock them loose. We just got ours back today from fixing the same thing.

Any of the settings with the tiny stones are at risk for this from lots of activities.

Schedule that ring on your homeowners policy. Won't cost too much and has no ded and all risk coverage. Regular policy limits to names perils, and ded. Scheduled coverage is completely different and will cover lost stones unlike basic home owners cov

It pays to have a serialized stone. I check the serial number of my wife's ring everytime, before I leave the store under their microscope and in front of the manager. Have the dang number memorized

I'm a cheap rascal. Wife's ring new in 1998 was like 1200-1500. Probably worth little more now but at 20 years olds- I still financed it for 6 months . I have had two clients lately pay 30,000 for wedding rings and both didn't last a yr . $ doesn't mean everything and it sets you up for what they expect
