I have a small metal feeder that is free choice that holds 20 lbs of dry food that I have used when I have been gone for a few days

I used a dump feeder years ago. Thats what we used before spin feeders. The dump worked like a charm with dog food.

No but sounds like a good idea, fill it up with dog food and build a box around the bottom over the spinner that funnels down some pvc to a pan and you would be set.

I'd put a piece of large pipe or something over the spinner to funnel the food down into some type of dish or bowl. Only problem I see with it would be possibly attracting ants onto the dogs food or if they dont eat it all, then it rains it would turn to mush.

                      Good idea though.

They sale bulk feeders at Tractor Supply 20lb and 50lbs on demand. Keeps dog food dry and no ant problems. I use the 50lber. The dogs eat less on demand.

I'm gonna attach a spinner to a galvanized trash can and use galv air duct around the spinner to dump it in a bowl

We have one. Attach the feeder on the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket, cut the bottom out of a 5 gallon water bottle, attach over the feeder onto the bucket to act as a funnel, and hang over a bowl.

We use ours to feed the cats while we're away and not have to worry about coons eating everything at night.
