    Elec. Question

    Going to run new service from existing 200 amp box to new room and install 100 amp breaker box. What size wire should I use. It is a 30 foot run to new 100 amp box

    8 gage would get ya. 10 gage if it's just lights and such

      No. #8 is NOT suitable. Use the following guide.

            Sorry I assumed you were running in pipe. Run a 2/2/2/4 AL S.E.R. Make sure you seperate your ground and neutral in sub panel

                      Make sure you use the temp. correction chart at the bottom of the posted page, and be realistic with the max temps. you might encounter. As someone mentioned earlier be careful with the grounding and bonding, they are two different things.

                        #2-2-4-4other 4 ga is because it will be a sub feed use it as ground put green tape on it for re identifying as a ground

                          Above or in stead of individual wires in pipe use SER 2-2-2-4 no pipe needed
