    Lathe Question

I recently bought a Cummins Lathe for call making, however I can't seem to find anywhere to buy an expanding mandril for it. It has a faceplate so I was going to see if anyone knew where I could buy an expanding mandril that screws into a faceplate?
    Thanks, Sam

Do you have a model number or a size of it?

Try Grizzly wood working, this should be a standard mandrel size.

        or try MSC

I have one, that I no longer use. (cummins lathe)

Make your own mandrels for it.

#1 turn piece of wood 5/8" about 8" long

#2 cut 2 o ring groves in middle

#3 insert call blank on wood mandrel, over o rings

          #4 make barrel

you can use the points it came with

For the tone board you have to turn it backwards and cut off excess to keep from marking.

I use a different set up now, that I had made for me....much faster on tone board, but barrels are fast and easy with wood mandrel...and cheap!

I don't see a mandrel made to mount to a face plate. They are all made to be put in a chuck. Do you know what size face plate? A cheap china made chuck should work fine for what your wanting to do, unless you have the extra funds.

webfootcustomcalls.com has an expanding mandrels for either a #1 or a #2 morse tamper. and will fit inside the hole where the faceplate is.

so you will need to find which size tamper it is and I believe they are around $80.
