What is He?

So this is a picture pulled of of one of our game camera's this season. We aren't sure what type of critter it is, we're debating between a very big sika buck, or a small free range elk. We've had pictures of sika before, although we've never seen one one the hoof, but my granddad has seen some free range elk in the area. Any opinions?

Well this spot is in the very back of the ranch, very isolated, tons of hogs. Also where I killed the aoudad on my profile. Now just to get him to step out in the day time

It looks like a sika. However, my cousin lives in northern Uvalde county and killed a free roaming bull elk behind his house when he had to miss a hunt in Colorado. It was a 5X6.
