Frozen Meat -- oldest u have used

Shifting things around in the freezer this morning I found a package of pork chops from Apr 2012 (double wrapped in plastic and butcher paper) and some axis steak from Jun 2010 (vacuum shrink wrapped). Has no visible freezer burn and no off spec smell. Planning to cook and feed to dog but brought to mind questions, what is longest you have kept and used meat and also what r potential consequences of eating old meat as long is well cooked.

I have gone over a year as long as there isn't anything funny looking or smelling on the meat.

just ate some 2009 pork sausage, vacuum packed and smelled good. I've eaten LOTS of two year old venison that was vacuum wrapped.

Worst case, your house is ground zero for the zombie apocalypse.

I would definitely eat the vacuum sealed meat. Can't hurt to try the other. It's not like it "spoils" in the freezer - you're not going to get sick from it. Freezer burn just makes it not taste good. Usually you can cut off the freezer burned section and the rest will taste just fine.

Got lots of 5 year old caribou. If it stays frozen I think safety wise there's not much that can go wrong.

2-3 years for me for deer

                              Fish less than a year

Dove froze in water, about 1-2 weeks if that.

                              Sausage about 1-2 years
