Need some help with a Ford 1700 tractor

My step dad passed away 2-1/2 years ago and my mom would like to sell his tractor. It has been sitting for the last two years or so- I quit using it when I bought my Kubota. It has always run good with no problems. We had to put a new battery on it so it would start. I forgot to hook the box blade up to it before I drove it down to my house to put a for sale sign on it. I want to say that I lifted the three point hitch before I left. Anyway, I can't get the three point hitch to lift. I can lift it by hand real easy. Anybody got any ideas what might be the problem.

The hydraulic filter is inside the rear differential and runs about about 60 bucks. There will a 1.5 inch pipe that runs from the front of the tractor to the rear diff. Follow that pipe back to the diff and remove the pipe after you drain the diff. There should 6 or 8 bolts that connect the pipe to diff. Disconnect and the wire filter is inside. Replace the filter and fluid. NOTE: You must refill with original Ford Hydro oil or the system will fail..

Rubydog, thanks for the help. I'll check this out tomorrow. How difficult is it going to be to find the filter and oil locally?

I would carry the filter in as well as the model and serial number to a reputable Ford tractor dealer. Some of those filters can be washed out so you could try that as long as the fluid isn't milky. Also make sure the fluid is up to specs as well.

Now the search is on for a Ford tractor dealer.

I know there is a Ford dealer in Palestine but out side that I have lost track in east Texas.

Check out Napa as well for that filler.
