    Best Waders

    Guys,

I am in need of new waders. I know a lot of you guys do a fair amount of Duck hunting.

What do you consider to be the best waders for under $300.

    I am 6'1 and 195 lbs.

    Thanks for your input!

I have bought a few waders in my lifetime and I am on the on Game Winner Men's Hybrid from Academy! They are a comfortable wader and for $160 you cant beat them. I ripped a whole in my $300 waders once on a trip and went to academy and picked these up to get through a season and have bought them ever since..

Buy a pair of game winner brand from academy and when they get a hole in them, just return them to academy. They will exchange them no questions asked. I am very rough on waders and I just cant see spending a fortune on them when no matter what they will end up with a hole in them.

Got a pair of kickass Patagonia breathable waders that my mom got me for Christmas. Think those were around that mark, perhaps a hair higher but hands down the best waders I've ever had.

You said "best". Best wader for under $300 is the Simms Freestone.

Cabela's brand! Their warranty is unbeatable...you can get them as thick as you want - I have some 1200 gram and they are nice and warm!

High end waders will wear out. So paying $600 will work just as well as a $150 pair. The key is a membrane on the inside as moisture will build up.

X2 on the cabelas. I have the 1600 mags for my cold feet. Been going stronger for about 6 years.

I just bought the simms g3's for wade fishing they're extraordinarily comfortable.

I have Orvis for duck hunting, they're much more durable and I have the older ones with the lace up boots. They are unbelievably comfortable and allow me to layer with the durable shell and goretex membrane.

If I'm hunting hardwoods and standing in the cold the only way to go is neoprene but any other time i wear my orvis waders.

I get about a year and a half out of a set regardless of the brand or price. With heavy use $300 waders will leak just like a $150 set. Check out wing supply. The have lots to choose from and you can't beat their prices.

I've had great luck with both pair of Cabela's waders that I've purchased. The first pair I bought were the Ultimate Hunting Wader, I buy stout because I like the extra room and don't too much care to look like Peter Pan. They lasted 8 seasons and part of that's was when I was in college and hunting 4-5 days a week. About 4 years ago, I bought a pair of Northern Flight breathable. I ordered stouts, but sent them back for regular. they're much thinner and more comfortable than the CUHW, and with a few clothes on underneath, just as warm. I can't complain at all about the price because they've held up well and do a great job.
