    T-post driver for rent???

Does anyone know where I can rent a gas powered T-post driver for rent near San Angelo?? We are putting up 3 feeder pens this weekend and I'm kinda dreading the thought of driving 60 t-posts in the rocky ground!!

Its a little expensive but out at my old Uvalde lease there were some pens made of hog panels that had 3/4" or 1" square tubing welded to the outside. They were wired together and self supporting in a circle so didn't require T-posts.

Not sure about gas powered but most of the equipment rental places out there rent air driven drivers and rent the big air compressors to run them.

This ^^^^ If I ever have to build any I will be going this route. Little more money up front, but easy set up and take down.

I have a 3-4" plate of rock about 4" deep at our place just north of San Angelo. Driving a t-post through it was not an option. I rented a rock drill which runs off of a big trailer mounted diesel powered compressor. I think the bit was 2 3/8 inch. Made very fast work of putting in about 100+ posts. Rented from Roberson Rent-All.

We use the forks on a bobcat. Depending on how close you are to a rental place I would go this route

Same thing I did at our place in Kerr County, used the drill and then a air driver as well.... Only way to go in rocky terrain!!

I did a construction job southwest of San Angelo at Barnhart. We rented an air powered driver to build the fence around the site. In the process, we broke several t-posts and some only made it a few inches before stopping. I would think about the drill as posted above.

Stop by the local day worker hang out and pick up a couple of day workers. For a couple of hundred buck you wont even have to break a sweat.

@TxNurse, how deep of a hole can you make with the rock drill. I have a place in Starr County that I have to set a temp pole for light but I've rock at the surface and the utility company want the pole 5 foot in the ground, ouch!!!!!

The drill looks like a Jackhammer. Don't know if they make an extension to add on as you go down to get more depth.
