I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled this past Tuesday. Had one wisdom tooth with a cavity below the gum line - made the choice to pull them all out so Tuesday morning, went in at 730 am. Got an IV, they semi-knocked me, yet I could hear them working on me. They cracked each tooth like a walnut, clanked a few metal tools against my good teeth, couldn't feel any pain though. Told them part way through the procedure to let me get some air, have cedar fever right now here in the Hills, sinus congestion, had to gulp a few good breaths of air to clear my nose, then they continued cracking and pulling till things were complete. 2 hours later I'm standing up and walking out the front door with a numb and somewhat bloody mouth. My girlfriend drove me home, and I popped a pain pill and sat down at the kitchen counter and worked till around 1pm before I took a nap. Slept 2 hours, woke up and went back to work on the kitchen counter till 6pm. Took another nap till 9 pm, woke up and watched TV till midnight, popped my 2nd pain pill and went to bed.

Day after, no pain and no more pain pills but a bit of blood in the mouth till around 10 am or so. Back to work on Thursday with 4 big holes behind my molars and no pain so I suppose it's no big deal?

Funny you posted this thread this week. My Dentist has been PO'd no one pulled them before after all of these years.

It's weird to hear them crack as they go to work in the mouth LOL!

I recommend eating a big old steak dinner the night before with a couple of cocktails, somewhere out on the town. After dinner, go home, guzzle some water, since you can't eat after midnight and simply get it done first thing the following morning.

I took a 24 hour decongestion pill to keep my nostrils clear during the procedure....darn cedar fever is bad this year. Didn't want to have my nostrils closed off with them cutting off my mouth airway during the procedure....best thing I could have done before going in.

The day - post surgery - I simply drank a cup of hot chicken broth for food. The next day, had oatmeal in the morning and by evening time, I was eating grilled cheese and tomato soup. The 3rd day, back to normal eats but I'm chewing more to the front, keeping those 4 holes with their respective stitches clear from food and chewing.

I was given the option of having it done in the oral surgeon's office or in out patient surgery with anesthesia. I opted for the anesthesia. The Anesthesiologist, a friend of mine, told me later that after watching the extractions, he'd never consent to having it done, himself!

During the surgery, I was given IV steroids to minimize swelling, given a presccription for hydrocodone capsules to take at home. I really didn't experience much pain and wouldn't have taken any pain pills had I not played in a softball tournament a couple of days later. It was summer time and hot and by the 6th inning of the first game, my jaw was throbbing and I had a splitting headache! Only proves I am no rocket scientist, I guess.

Had all fiur of mine removed at same time. No real pain to speak if more if an inconvience than anything else. Ate a lot of soup and fluids first 2 days then pretty much back to normal after that.

I had 4 wisdom teeth and 2 Molars pulled at the same time. It's not bad if you take the pain killers on schedule. I'm headed back to get a couple more pulled and bone implanted.

Dont do it in Mexico. My wife got hers done there and suffered for a long time. Most likely it was just the person she went too.
