    ASPCA Rant

Last night my 50lb. Springer (Ozzie) went out into the barn and grab a carrot that had a horse pill in it, 1mg. Pergolide. We didn't find out for about an hour and he started throwing up and getting really lethargic. Called the emergency care clinic right away and they directed us to call the ASPCA Poison Control. We called them and they requested a $65.00 fee for any info to our situation. At the same time we had googled it and came up with some info, non toxic, hallucinations, sick, lethargic should be good by morning. We also have a friend that is a horse vet, so my wife told the ASPCA no $65 for them. They offered no info and hung up.

My rant today as I thought about this, is that for all they know, I could have donated tens of thousands of dollars to them over the years (I haven't) or willed my entire life’s fortune to them (again I haven't but should as it's all debt) and yet without that $65.00 payment they would of possibly left Ozzie die!

Ozzie's fine this AM. Back out in the barn, looking for more!

To hell with them, the spca has done as much to hurt animals as they ever have to help them. They are just another liberal fairy tales and rainbows organization that doesn't know **** from wild honey.....and always wanting a handout.

They are responsible for euthanizing tons more animals than they even attempt to adopt out.

Nevermind the horses starving and being abandoned because those idiots got the slaughter houses shut down.

My dog ate a 6 month supply of heartworm meds at once. I called ASPCA poison control and spoke with someone. I don't know if she was tired of working for them or was against charging people, so she gave me a tip. Told me to call human poison control and explain the situation and they could pretty much tell me anything I needed to know free of charge. I did and they just compared my dogs size to a human child's and said he'd be fine.

My ex-wife got a dog from them once and it barked all night at my 3D targets. I took the stupid dog back to them the next day and told them to keep it. They wouldn't take it back. They said once we adopt it they can take it back. I told them to keep my adoption fee and just take the dog. They still wouldn't take it so I waited until they closed and heaved it over their fence.

Is HSNT associated with them? If so, (if not then disregard the rest of this post) then lets look at the flip side. Had a dog get hit on the side of the road, broken leg and our animal control couldn't respond (New Years Eve night). HSNT offered to come pick the dog up but had 2 other animals to go pick up first, so I met them in the middle of the night and they took possession of the dog. Only 2 hours later, I had to call them again because a stray cat had crawled into one of the dog runs with a pit bull and they had a Spartan battle for the ages. They came and picked up the mortally wounded cat and were there in 20 minutes, no charge either time. Without them, where would I have been? Being a hunter, I do see the animal rights activists as "the enemy" but I also know that we (hunters and animal rights activists) have the same common theme, a love of animals and want what's best for them, we just have 2 totally different ways of expressing it.

To the OP, no way do I think you should have had to pay $65 for advice, that's BS.

It is my understanding that the two are NOT in any way connected.
