    My fitness pal

Saw where this was being used on a thread yesterday. I wanna start using it and downloaded it last night. My goal wt is 225. Thats roughly 55#. For 1#/day it shows 2880 calories, for 2#/day its 2380. To be honest i aint got a clue on how many calories i eat a day, but im guessing a crap load more than that.

June 7 is my target date. Is 55# by then doable?

It is 1# per week, not per day.

Good luck! It has helped me a lot.

I started a biggest loser competition at work last week. I downloaded the App yesterday. So far I really like it. I was allotted 2200 calories and came in just under.
Drinks can really cut into your calorie total.

It's doable but gonna be work. I am of similar size. 20-30 pounds not too much struggle but after that it's tough. I have used that app as well. It's an eye opener if you are honest with you eating. I didn't lose a lot with it and felt like it may give you more calories than it would take to lose the weight. I would start the app, eat healthy and try to exercise. I have seen very few people have significant weight loss without exercise unless they have surgery.

You will need a scale to weigh everything you put on a plate or bowl. Then simply enter everything you eat into the program and it will tell you what the calories, carbs, fat and protein are for each item, each meal and the total for each day.

I love MFP, makes me WANT to eat healthy. When you eat a fast food burger and you see it eat up your calories but can eat an huge plate of healthy food for the same amount of cals, makes you want to stay with healthy food so that you don't feel so hungry at the end of the day. It is working great for me so far.

Your goal is doable figuring about 2.8lbs a week with roughly 19 weeks till that date. Will be tough though as your weight loss will slow down.

                Best of luck to you!!

It's a great program to help keep yourself accountable with what you're eating. But calories aren't everything. Pay attention to where the calories come from. The more natural and unprocessed, the faster the weight will come off. 55 is doable, but you've gotta put in work. Good luck!

I've lost 40 pounds in 5 months using MyFitnessPal and RunKeeper (in my case, more like Walkkeeper).

If you are losing more than 2-3 lbs/week, you are losing muscle & water weight.

Your goal & time frame is doable, but caution on losing too much too fast.

FYI, you will plateau & some point during this time & weight loss will be minimal if not non existent. Don't get frustrated, this is normal, stick with it. Most importantly, when you hit that target, don't go back to old habits.

1# a day is not healthy or realistic. Slow weight loss is the key at 2-3# a week.

Any more then that and its muscle/water weight you are losing. Remember its a marathon
