    Lincoln Nat Forest info

Anybody been to the Lincoln National Forest in NM, west of Carlbad? Its just north of the Carlsbad Caverns Park. Just looking for info if anyone has hunted out there. We are going on a coyote hunt/camping trip.

Have hunted unit 30 for mule deer there are lots of yotes in there last road to left in hope nm stay on road till you come to a national forest sign on right that road will go to Carlsbad if you stay on long enough but its a long trip more county than you can hunt in there.

I went after Merriams turkeys up there a few years ago. The federal wildlife biologist was a big help as was all the staff. You can contact him through this site

Seems to be lot more yotes and bobcats down in the rolling desert land in that area. Up in the mountain and Guadalupe rim area was not near as good. Check out desert area East and West of Queen,NM on north towards Pinion. Some good areas in there.

Ok, so Unit 30.... there is public land in Unit 30 even though its not in the National Forest? Just clarifying... Cause I would love to hunt some of that low land where you can see, in addition to the forest part of the national forest.

I would head to the Otero Mesa area if I was going to do some calling.
