Deer hide question?

I have a deer hide that was tanned professionally about 3 yrs ago. It lays on the back of our couch, and has suddenly started shedding. Does it need some sort of cleaning? It leaves hair on clothes when you lean against it. I've pulled on the hair, it seems to be solid?

If it's a WT deer the hair is breaking off. Axis won't do this be wt will.

Place the hide somewhere that doesn't get any traffic. ie: hang it, put it on top of the safe, etc...

I am in the process of tanning a hide and I took off all the excess meat yesterday and threw salt on it what is the best next step
