Question for those familiar with Axis

I have a lot of Axis around my place. From the photos I'm getting, I am seeing a pattern. Have you ever noticed this....the hard-horned bucks, mature and immature, seem to hang together in a group, while the bucks in velvet, mature and immature hang in their own group. Is this something that is common, or only in my "hood"?

    Thanks

I've hunted a lot of axis and have taken MANY of them. I have never noticed that behavior before......not sayin that it aint so , just haven't noticed it.

I have limited experience--taken exactly 1 with rifle, but only pattern I've seen in their collective groups is they travel in mobs.

Makes sense to me. Bucks sporting hard antlers are usually dominant over those in velvet. Fighting advantage.

Yes I have noticed that. Awesome have seen heard a of bucks with 2" velvet horns just starting to grow. Had they been hard horned, half would have been shooters I imagine. Over 250lbs easily. Closer to 300 I imagine.

My first buck, I wish I didn't get the straight on mount.. He was a little above 200lbs and has 30.5 and 31 beams
