I'm preaching Sunday and I need your help...

    Hey guys-
I get the opportunity to preach at Harvest Church in Watauga this Sunday. It's always an honor, and this time I want to bring in a little action from the Green Screen.

I've seen the trail cam pictures posted of the huge flocks of grackles or starlings eating up all the corn from under your feeders an I'd like to use those images to illustrate a point.

If you have one of those, will you please post it up in this thread?

Thanks in advance and, as always, you'd be welcome at Harvest. Services are at 9:30 and 11.

                tgil and Texas8-
Thanks fellas. Exactly what I was looking for.

Matthew 13 is what I'm teaching, the Parable of the Sower. Jesus paints pictures of 4 different kinds of soil that represent our heart's desire to hear and understand what He has to say to us.

1 - The deceived heart represented by the soil of the beaten-down pathway is too hard to receive anything, and God's Word is snatched up by the Enemy like seed scattered on hard ground is snatched up by the birds (that's what the pic is for). No seed, no sprouts, no fruit.

2 - We can also have a distracted heart represented by the shallow, rocky soil. The seed is scattered and sprouts, but is quickly burned up by the midday sun. This is when we hear what The Lord is saying and move to act on it, but the pressures of temptation, pushback from friends and family, etc... kill it off too soon. The result is quick growth, but no fruit.

3 - The 3rd soil represents the divided heart. The seed is scattered and sprouts again, but this soil is also claimed by thorn bushes that choke out the new sprout. Again, no fruit to be had. This happens when we want to receive God's Word, but the cares and lies of this world capture our attention.

Finally, Jesus teaches about the good soil. The delighted heart that is prepared to receive God's Word, understands it, and produces fruit. Sometimes as much as 100x over.

So how is your heart? Deceived? Distracted? Divided? Delighted? If I'm not careful, I can spend a lot of time being distracted and divided. Lord, help me and my heart to delight in You!

                Thanks again y'all! TBH rocks!

The parable that unlocks all parables including the one of the sower.

Luk 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
