Darlin, Did You Get Enough To Eat?

Sitting at a table in a fast food restuarant across from SFA yesterday I heard these words. I had my head in my phone checking my email, planning the rest of my day, and being somewhat oblivious to what was going on around me. I thought she was talking to her child so I wasn't really paying attention. Then I feel a tap on my shoulder and those words again, Darlin, did you get enough to eat? Turns out she was talking to me. Brought a smile to my face and a yes ma'am from my mouth. I don't hear to many Darlins around the Dallas area especially from total strangers so to say I wasn't used to this is an understatement.

I read a lot of complaining about East Texas so I thought I'd pass this along. It's not all bad in that part of the state.

No by this time I had already eaten and was just sitting at the table. The lady was an employee wanting to know if I was still hungry.

You can hear that in the restuarant that I eat in most days. If it's not darlin it's hon or suger. That usually comes from older and experienced waitresses.

Weird. They never call me sugar or hon at Perfect 10.

At The Waverly House restaurant in New Waverly, TX there has always been this super sweet grandma that comes by your table when you're just about done eating to offer you cobbler or pie. Always tell her no ma'am I'm getting full. Then she always says something like the Lord made secret places in your tummy just for pie and puts a piece down for you anyway. I love that place.

It may be that you are not nearly as good looking as I am.
