Question for the ones that served on US Navel vessel!

I have a question about life on a US Navel vessel. It is my understanding that most US Navel vessels have Chaplin's. But do Subs, Air Craft Carriers, Destroyers...ect have a baptistery?(a place to immerse someone) It is my understanding that Subs, Air Craft Carriers (and escort vessels) can be on patrol between 6-9 months. So is some one want's to be baptized do they have to wait up to 9 months? I can see where Air Craft Carries, Destroyers have the room for a baptistery, but do Submarines?

I think they just tie a rope to one leg and then hang them over the side of the ship.......

    Good question.

I have not served on one but hopefully I will be on one soon. But from all the ones I have been on I have never seen one just the chapel.

They would probably improvise something onboard or arrange a baptism at a port if required. On my first ship, they arranged for people to be baptized at the Yardenit Baptismal Site where Jesus was reportedly baptized when we had a port call in Haifa, Israel. I went on an epic tour of Israel in 1997 they arranged as well.

When we went to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia during Ramadan they even made arrangements for our lone Muslim out of a crew of 2000+ to go on his pilgrimage to Mecca.

I was on one for 4 years. But I'm not a religious person so I could not tell you. We get get hazed when we crossed the equator.

I served for 22 years and I was on ships for 15 years total.
We do not have traditional immersion tanks for the person to
Be dipped into. However us Sailors are resourceful. My daughter was
Baptized on the stern of a new ship and we used the ships bell to hold
The baptismal water at the single side base. My son was born in Italy
But baptized using the bell from the USS Dallas Submarine. Their name
Are engraved on the bells wherever the ships go.

I was in submarines for 5 years. Nowhere for full immersion onboard. But as said before, we are a resourceful bunch. I'm sure the galley water could be blessed in a pinch.
