Dogo would of gone for his throat. This guy does not need a Matidor Breed.

American bulldog is my first pick.... I have had several they are great with kids and smart they always let stranger know when they weren't welcome around the house. Second choice is a catahoula they love there family members and hate strangers and people they don't know also a great dog with kids and also be a good blood trailing dog.

I'll bow to your knowledge, I have very little personal experience with the breed.

I will also recommend if your going to get a dog for protection, to send yourself to training as well, no need to open yourself up the those liabilities without the knowledge necessary to do it right.

The only dog I have ever been truly scared of, and I mean like what the heck would I do if that thing came over the fence is a Dogo. I worked at a guys house and those dogs scared the hell out of me. I always had an eye on them even though they were in the back yard.

^^X2 I've had heelers since I could walk and they are very protective. Very loving dogs but god forbid a stranger come into the yard, shame on them.

Brother in Law had a Rottweiller that was awesome. Very friendly if she knew ya but protective if she didn't. They also will regulate there own eating from what he told me, unlike other breeds that will just eat til the food is gone

Safety in numbers.... They may look all cute and cuddly, but as a team, they get straight up hood on someone they don't know!!!!

Argentino dogo I own a 130# male and he is by far the most loyal dog I have ever had. He laid at the feet of my 6 month old nephew and when he started crying he put his head on his lap.
These dogs are not mean at all but I guarentee that no one will try to enter my house once they see bubba

How could you not think these are not loyal and loveable? Same as the Dogo, it takes someone willing to train and work with them on a daily basis to get the most out of this breed and to get one from the right breeder. Do your homework When getting this breed. Loyal, loving and protective. Their bark will intimidate anyone.

Sorry to hear about your break in. I used to own an Airedale that matched the traits you described. Extremely loyal, but knew by my actions when to be off guard. He was great with my kids and their friends but would not let anyone in my yard without someone in my family talking to them first. I used him to catch hogs and blood trailed several deer with him also. Ridgeback, or Black Mouth Cur would be next on my list after Airedale.

Get a cane corso. Some of the most loving and protective dogs around. Not to mention anyone who breaks in would absolutely mess their drawers with a big male staring them down
