    Floorhands/Roughnecks

I just got picked up by Patterson as a floorhand. this is going be my first job in the oil field. Tell me what to expect, the do's and don'ts and anything else you think I might need to know. I'm excited to say the least I've been trying to get my foot in the door for a while now. Its kind of crazy, I couldn't tell you how many apps I put in online and nothing. A buddy gives me a number I give them a call, show up at a job fair, drug test and hired.

Keep your mouth shut, your ears and eyes open and keep moving. Be safe and take all the safety rules seriously. Watch your tail and the crews as well. Never say "I can't", there's always a way. Don't wine and be early. Good luck. Hope you make a hand.

Make a hand, stay busy. They are going to tell at you and call you names and you will be the butt of all the jokes and the gopher. Just pull your weight and a little of the guys next to you. Stay off the dope. Get a Good pair of boots with your first check .

Most important thing I can tell you. Don't put you fingers anywhere you wouldn't put little willie. Ya feel me?

Never trust that the guy next to you is going to be safe. YOU need to pay attention at all times. Dont be late. Work your *** off. Become freinds with the directional drillers and then hire on with them

^^Good advice from someone who actually knows and I couldn't have said it any better. Plenty of money to be made following this advice.

Any idea what rig you will be on? I'm directional and stay with a Patterson rig.

Heck, i always liked the directional guys. Although im a bit different than the average guy you see working a rig floor, hence why im no longer on a rig floor.... Plant operator is where its at
