    My daughters FFA pig

I've had lots of posts on here about my 15 year old daughter Courtney as she is an excellent bowhunter.

Well she's been raising a pig for an FFA project in Katy (Katy HS). This pig which she named Harley has become a big part of her life. The sale/show is coming up on February 21st and maybe some of you guys could shoot me a pm with s little advise on how to get him sold. It's gonna be rough on her since dhs loves ol Harley, but it's a big step as she grows up.

So if any of you guys/gals can give me some pointers on getting buyers to attend, please do. It would make her day.

Pic of her and Harley on Christmas Day...

    Thanks,
    Ty

I went to school down the road in Cy-Fair ISD, and raised plenty of show hogs and other animals. We always had luck with local family owned businesses. Maybe try a car dealership or local bbq restaurant or something. The owner of Carls BBQ off of 290 was a big supporter of our show.

One big important thing to remember when looking for buyers. Do not have your daughter write letters or call them asking to buy her animal. As much as she hates it, make her dress up in her official ffa dress and get prettied up and make her set up a meeting and go there in person. It is all about putting a face with the name. Make a good first impression, and they will remember you.

Forgot to add, good luck to your daughter at the show. It's an awesome experience that I sure do miss whenever I think about it. It was hard to say goodbye to some of those pigs but it was a little easier when someone handed you a nice big check in return.

Good advice right there. How many kids do you think are willing to go the extra mile to dress up and meet with business owners? Not many. She will set herself apart.

Also check with any local business that you frequent. People will do business with people that do business with them.

My daughter Shelby is showing four this year. She's been doing it since 4th grade. Looks like you're just showing for your county. We're showing county(3), San Antonio (1), and houston. Your money is at the county shows. San Antonio and Houston, the majors are tuff. If you get the chance, do the houston show once. It's laid back and not as hectic as SA. You'll enjoy it more.

The main thing for Courtney to remember is to have fun. She put a lot of work in that pig. Smile at all times in the ring. She knows that pigs best points and make sure that judge sees them.

Good luck! Enjoy the experience and get ready for next year when she wants two. It will happen.

Yep he is 100% right she will want to show more next year, my sons first year he won his class and took 3rd in district. Good luck on the sale. It's a tax right off so most places will buy one if its locally owned.
