What to wear to a funeral

A friend ours passed away on Dec 27th, he was 29 years old and very laid back. Never saw him in anything other than blue jeans and t-shirts, even for family pictures. His service is this Friday and I have dropped off a decent pair of blue jeans, a white shirt and my black sport coat to the cleaners. As I was dropping them off I started thinking maybe the jeans were not appropriate. Any thoughts on the subject?

So sorry to hear of your friend passing. I wear jeans and nice shirt. I don't do suits. I think the jeans white shirt and black sport coat is right on

I would do what you think he would appreciate. With what you dropped off at the cleaners sounds perfect.

            Sorry to hear that man.

Would he wear jeans to your funeral? I think it will look fine.

I am a pastor and conduct a lot of funerals and I promise you there should be nothing wrong with what you plan to wear.

Prayers for you all and the family.

You being there, for his family, is more important than what you wear.
I think your choice is fine.

Dark suit.........black or blue! Just call me traditional when it comes to certain ceremonies.

The most important thing is that you are there to show your respects, not everyone can afford a nice suite and shouldn't matter.

Never worn anything but starched jeans to a funeral.

Sorry about your friend, that is way too young to die. I agree you will be OK with what you have on, the focus won't be on what you are wearing anyway.

I you have a suit than that's the route I'd go but if not, starched or pressed jeans are fine.

The caveat to this is the service is in California, not Texas. I guess I should not care what people are thinking of how I'm dressed on his day.

His death was a shock to us all. Army SFC who trained students at the free fall school in Yuma, Az. He probably made over 30 jumps a month at work for the last couple years, been to combat and he died in a recreational skydiving accident with his wife and three sons watching. Pretty tragic.
