I did it for 22 years, since April of last year I'm enjoying my new career in construction.

I'm never lookin back!!! My dad retired as a cop and I got out in time to save my sanity.

Don't get me wrong, I had lots of fun and helped lots of people...loved it!!!

      I don't miss it one bit...except messing with co-workers

Good honest police officers that are there to help and not there to oppress as the government intends them are not as prevalent as you'd think.

Doesn't matter what the job is.. if at the end of the day it's just a check to the employee they probably aren't very good at what they do.
It is easy to get into the police academy just like its easy to major in any career. But I can promise you getting hired at most agencies is a long tedious process. Between polygraph, some type of written test, physical test, 2 to 3 interviews, physiological test, and more. I'd say its a little harder than what you would think. As far as pay, depends on where you work. Some agencies are paid very well and some are not. BTW.....your comment on corruption is bogus!

As mentioned not even worth it.

                        Truth!!

As for the video, I'd never seen it and it was good. Lots of truth....If he catches him hes lucky if he doesnt hes a dunce. If he gets promoted hes connected. And my favorite and what struck home the hardest Hes a minister, social worker....... So much truth and you have to change those hats in an instant!

Corruption....you see it cause its news worthy. Finding a missing 3 year old kids before the media gets there, catching a burglar after he hits 3 houses, bank robbers, hit and run drivers, guys wanted for sexual assault in 3 counties. Channel 2 wont come out for all that but it happens everyday and no one reports it, mostly cause its in my job description and its the icing on the cake after playing divorce lawyer and parent to a kid I aint I raising. Its OK though cause even though you gripe out my profession as a whole, Ill still print your back door when a crook breaks in your house. Why??? Cause I want to catch the guy who thinks he wont get caught

I can totally relate as I get weird looks when I say that to any peace officer.

Paul Harvey always had a way with words. He could say what you are thinking but have no way to put into words. Mr. Harvey is a poetic ninja!

This. The officers I know do quite well. They give and receive respect and work their tail off to get it, but it is not even close to low paying by my standards. In fact, just the opposite.
