    Knife Question

I was given a knife by my Father a few days ago that was given to him. He didn't want it and thought I might like it. This is a style I would never use. I would like to exchange if possible or just sell it outright. The knife is NIB.

The knife in question is Benchmade 9052SBK AFO II, Auto, Tanto

Can I legally sell or exchange this knife? Thanks in advance.

Yep. Not illegal to sell it or exchange it if you know where it came from and they will take it back.

I have no clue where it came from. I took it by the main box stores to see if they would except it as a return but no avail. I am figuring it would be from a dealer so I guess my next route would be to just list it in the classifieds. Thanks for your input.

Might consider your dad's opinion. I'd be happier if my son returned an unwanted gift than if he sold it. Seems a little cold to me.

Why not use it? That is one of the better utility folders out there.

I agree, it's one of the better knives on the market, Benchmade makes good stuff, and the steel in that one is great steel, it's what my current EDC knife is made of and it's easy to get scalpel sharp, and holds an edge really well. But, he may be like me...I won't carry a tanto style blade, I just don't like them, and for some reason, I can't ever seem to sharpen them without messing up the angle where the two edges come together. Give me a standard drop point or clip point edge and I'm happy as a clam. I also don't care for serrated or partially serrated blades, I'd rather have a super sharp blade from front to back.

There are several reasons I wouldn't normally carry this type of knife.... the blade style is the main reason. The size is another.... it feels great in your hand but I wear slacks most days and prefer to carry my mini trapper. I own other fixed blade benchmade knives and love them. I may be crazy but I'm just not a fan of auto blade.

Im heading to the safari show friday....push comes to shove I'll carry it while working at the ranch and hunting. Maybe I'll have luck trading it in or selling. I don't think it's priced to bad but who knows.
