    Red Fox

We were at the ranch last week and decided to run into town for lunch. We put our small dog in her kennel inside the house before leaving. When we returned after lunch there were 3 big red fox about 50yds from the house just sitting there. I am assuming our dog was whining inside the house which must have called the fox in.

Are there any tips or tricks to hunting these things short of setting our dog and her kennel in middle of the pasture? I got an e-caller for Christmas, but have heard that red fox can be difficult to call in. I am open to any suggestions.

    Thanks

Leave your dog in the crate with a recorder running and use that.

Heck my wife is the one who mentioned that option. Did I mention she is the one that really wants a red fox, and that she really doesn't like our dog to begin with.

I'm not kidding. If your dog whines when left in the crate and the foxes come running, I'd be recording that whine. Do you have a way of adding your own mp3s to your e-caller?

Unfortunately not, but I guess I could record it with my phone then playback with a small external speaker.

Does your unit have some pup sounds? Grey fox pup used to be a good one for me for coyotes.

Reminds me of a post once (not sure if it was on here) where a guy took his daughters pomeranian out and staked it out for live bait.

Maybe try a canine distress call on one of the e-callers or put the dog in the crate and hide out and wait

^ There are a few animals that I wouldn't mind doing this to!

I've always wanted to take a wild piglet and tie it's rear leg to a stake, then camo up, set back 'bout 40 yds with some good 00 buck and whack some coyotes or hogs, whichever was dumb enough to come first.

Funny thing was a coyote showed up and the ankle biter could see him coming and was scratching dirt and straining to get at the coyote and not scared at all.
