    Need help. Academy runaround!

If any tbh'ers know any Academy upper management personnel please contact me. Here's the story. I have three stepsons, the two younger ones has shown more interest than the oldest one (21). So on Christmas Day the oldest one received several gift cards from Academy. As all of my wife's family was over we went out side and started shooting skeet. The older stepson who in the past didn't show much interest in participating in the shooting, came out and ask if he could shoot. So I say sure, and start explaining the safe way to handle a shot gun, he's shot one before just not that much. After we finished he stated he thought he would like to buy himself a shotgun and start hunting. I told him I would go with him and help him pick one out. But being an impatient kid he goes to Academy the next day while I'm at work and they sell him a stoeger tatical shotgun. When I get home from work he wants me to help him put it together. I open the box and see its a tactical gun not a hunting gun. I immediately call Academy and explain the situation. They inform me all gun sales are final. When I explained the situation that my stepson wasn't sure what he was buying, that he wanted a hunting gun but the associate sold him a tactical gun. They told me they would have to call a district manager to get approval. They say they have approved exchanges before. After numerous call I feel like I'm getting the run around, they keep transferring me from person to person with no real resolution. The gun has never been put together or shot. If any one knows a district manager or higher up manager that could helps us out I would appreciate it. Sorry for the long read I hope it makes sense. Thanks.

Have you considered selling it and using the funds to buy a different one? He may take a loss, but it will be a lesson learned.

I don't think there is much of a chance of them returning it. Fortunately he isn't completely sunk. As stated, he can always sell and buy another one. There are a few nice shotguns for sale in the classifieds right now.

Yep, good luck with that. I don't know about now, but as of a couple of years ago, you signed a paper after they read it to you stating that all gun sales were final and there were no returns or exchanges.

Is there a way you can get a new stock and turn the gun back into a hunting shotgun?

X4 Maybe just try and hit up some gun shows or gun shops and kinda trade it in towards something else. I wouldn't think it would be to hard to get a regular pump shot gun on a trade. If it is the Stoeger P-350 12 Gauge Pump-Action Tactical Shotgun it maybe a good turkey gun depending on what the fixed choke is in it.
