All you need is an 80.

That is what I got last year and it was the best hunting I ever had even though I got no deer.

I did experience about 10 visits with deer seen or heard out of the 20 trips I made.

I had a shot at 4 visits. First was early one morning a doe came trotting but forgot to lock my arrow and it clanged off my stand.

Other times were it was too dark to see or, one time, the doe surprise me in my deer blind.

      Son loved it!!

Still hoping that 8 pointer I took pics of last year shows up and is perhaps a stout 8 pointer or perhaps a 10 pointer!!!

Sounds fun. Would I have to leave my own stand up there or do the rangers have some set up? And what about feeders?

        Thanks!

One feeder per hunter, bring your own stand, don't put anything out that you can't stand to lose.

There is a qualifying shoot sometime in August. 80/100 is the minimum passing score. If more people pass than they have spots for, they put the lowest scores in a drawing. If you can't make it to the qualifier, you can't hunt.

You're not likely to see any wall hangers out there, but you'll see plenty of deer if you are willing to put a little work into it. This will be my third year out there, assuming I make the cut.

They may have changed some things this year, but the last few years, this is how it has been. It's a nice place to hunt, and you can't beat the price.

Topduarte - PM sent with my email address for the pdf. Let me know when you want to go scout. I live about 2 miles from where you entered last year.

When I first started bowhunting,.,.,.,.,. Oh So Loooooong Ago...... I hunted that area before the lake was there! They were building the dam and you just had to sign in at the office.
We had this one area that we hunted that we had to park on the south side of the river, walk about a 1/4 mile to the river, find a place to cross...... who had water proof boots way back then??.... climb up the big steep ridge and start hunting!
I shot my first deer there on a stalk, while heading to a tree. Our "tree stands" back then was a 2X6 about 24 inches long with a "V" notch cut out of both ends, and we would wedge it between to limbs! When I padded mine one year, I thought it just could not get any better!!!
Great memories !! Thanks for the post and y'all have a great hunt this season.

Thanks for the reminder. May drive out in the morning. Hunted last year. Saw a lot of deer. Had a 8pt chase a doe about 30 feets from me. Hope he made it through the end of season!
