Have not deer hunted there , but saw tons of deer while on a Javi hunt there in Feb..

Pop ups or just some clippers and make ground blinds out of brush. There are a few places that a tripod could come in handy, but I would not bring one taller than 8-10 ft..

The smartest deer you have ever seen. Most people I know that have hunted there hunt out of brush blinds. Some good deer on the place.

Exciting isn't it? From what I've heard, the 8 pointers are just lining up waiting for y'all to hunt them. You're going to have a blast.

While you're at it, you might want to check out some of the bows Mike builds. Good stuff.

Well, if I were you I would not waist my time taking any type of ground blind. Build your own brush blind. Depending on the time of year and what pasture you get, a tripod or even a tree stand will work. I wouldn't say that the 8 pointers are lined up for you to shoot them either. The deer there are very wise and will bust you if you even leave a hint that you are around. They notice there surroundings and anything that is out of place. You should see a lot of deer and some good ones, just be careful or you will get busted.

I have hunted there 5 times and had shot opportunities each time. I have taken 2 bucks, hit and lost one (he survived), missed one (VERY on edge), and did not take a shot at one. The buck in my avatar is from there and to date is my best buck EVER! He is an 8pt also (actually a 7 that broke a brow tine off, but close enough!
I have two hunts there this season and my son won a hunt there also. That means that I'll be there three time this season. We're gonna have a great hunt.
I have hunted out of pop-ups and ground blinds. I have seen hunters that have hunted out of both and both have been successful. I personally have done better out of ground blinds. However they are going to be tough to hunt out of when it is so hot.
I think that one of the most important things you can do is scout an are for the buck you want to hunt. Sometimes that means that you have to give up a hunt and watch the roads and see where the bucks are coming out from and then go set up your blind. I know that is hard to do and even harder since this is such a short hunt, but that is what has helped me.
Good luck and let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with.

I hunted there two seasons ago. It was a lot of fun, but I wasn't impressed with the deer hunting. I saw deer, just nothing near a shooter. A lot of it was luck of the draw. It depended on which pasture he assigns you to. We were there at the start of the rut. a couple of the pastures were holding a bunch of does. Therefore, majority of the bucks were in those 2 pastures. I agree with huntinfool, use a hunt to watch the roads and see where the bucks are coming out at. We hunted out of dug holes and covered them with brush. It was tough hunting, but a great experience. I did see hogs and javs on a couple of the roads in the pasture we were hunting. Good luck, I hope you stick a big one!

First Point is a blast. I feel like a kid leaving Disney land every time my hunt is over and I have to go home. The best advice is as Huntinfool said "Burn a hunt" I burn the first evening and next morning. As far as stands it just depends on which pasture you get and the area you plan to set up in. I alway take 1- tripod with adjustments from 4 - 8 feet, 2- pop ups and a shovel for pit blinds. I have yet to use my tripod but would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. There very few turkey. It depends on the water situation. There are a few Javi's but you can not shoot them during season.

According to the info I was given they can take a Javi during this youth hunt. The snakes are going to be out and we will have to be careful.

I have hunted there a number of times and have taken two nice deer there including the one in my avatar. The deer are hunted hard and will not let you make mistakes. Make your setup as natural as possible and listen to Mike's advice on the pasture you are assigned.

                              Have fun!
