Big East Texas Antlers are FUNKY looking. I used to be able to guess what county a big deer was from about 50% of the time in south texas before the deer started moving around so much with TTT and breeders. (I studied Big Rack a LOT)

East Texas has some pretty cool characteristics. The palmation that your dad's deer had is one of them… the exploding beam tip thing that so many of the larger deer have going on.

    Pretty crazy.

I'm looking around the centerville area for a place to take my boys to hunt. They're only 2 but have to start sometime. Me personally, I still prefer south tx or the hill country.
Ummm...we elitist night hunter roll with a glass of scotch and only shoot what comes within range of the truck headlights.

A little did you know: The idea for Sisterwives also started in ETX, in Zavalla to be exact

If you decide to move south get ready to deal with the illegals! They are now coming in masses. I have seen and have pics of over 50 this season.

More than the deer I saw on my camera when I had a lease.

I agree. East Tx deer are odd. Did you notice the red head on all my deer this year?

                Lol!

I bet all your neighbors wish you hunted in West Tx also! Or just wish you'd start chasing those Florida Basses all winter long.

East teaxas deer hunting prolly wouldn't be so bad if for the past 100 years they wouldn't shoot the first thing that walks out

Heck no. My neighbors love me. I pass tons of young deer(and old deer), feed an enormous amount, provide cover. Me neighbor killed a 186 this year they didn't know existed.....I did.

I hear ya garguy. Everyone who hunts east tx has seasons like that. From what I can tell, most successful east tx hunters are able to put in a ton and I mean a TON of stand time. Someone that can only hunt weekends or a day here and there over several weeks usually won't be that successful.

Agreed. I think I put in 122 sits this season.
