My wife and i met up with another friend of ours at Brush Country Bowhunting. I had never been there so i was a little skeptical of success because of it being a day lease ranch.. We met the owner Glenn Smith AKA Smitty and he turned out to be one of the best guys i have ever had a chance to meet. He took us on a tour of his operation and gave us the scoop. I set up Friday morning where Glenn had been seeing a nice buck, at first light a little four point came out for awhile then bam nothing else for about 2 hours. It was cold and raining pretty steady but i had the perfect wind for the blind i was in so i set tight for awhile and texted my wife that i was going to stay on stand for awhile longer. About 10:00 a nice 8 pointer came out and passed the feeder without even giving it a look, i bent forward to be able to see him and he had stopped and was looking back at the stand. He turned and came back beetween the stand and the feeder and put his head down at about 11 yards. When i came to full draw he put his front leg forward and offered me the most perfect shot placement. He blew out of there like a rocket and i couldnt see him, i texted my wife and told her i just shot my best bow buck but i was worried about losing the trail in the rain, i only gave him about 15 minutes and grabbed my bow and my pack and stepped out of the blind to find the trail before it was gone, i walked around the stand and a mesquite bush that had been blocking my view and there he was, he hadnt gone more than 20 yards before he crashed, i guess i couldnt hear it because of the rain.
i know he isnt a monster but im pretty pumped about it. Sorry for the long read but it was a great day for me.
