    Failed, Sort of...

Hunted hard this year and never took a rifle to the field until this last weekend, my last opportunity to hunt this season.

Failed to take anything with the bow and had to put some meat in the freezer so I shot this doe at 100yds with a .308 She dropped in her tracks.
We put her on the scales before cleaning she weighed 92 lbs which isn't bad for a doe in our area.

It was just a bit of a let down to do it with a gun. No challenge, no nerves, just... now I've got to clean her.

Congrats on the kill. A man needs to fill the freezer. No shame in doing it with any legal means.

        I understand the feeling though.

Oh i did forget to mention it was the first time I used a suppressed rifle on game so it was kinda' novel in that respect. (just because we can in Texas)

It was a quartering away shot and my non-bow hunting friends gave me grief because I didn't shoot her broadside. Can't argue with the results she dropped and gasped once or twice and was done. No adrenaline coursing through her veins to sour the meat.

Meat is meat. Bow is what I prefer to take them with but I'm not above using a rifle.
