Getting ready for some spring time crappie

I have a 10' and 8' foot Pro Angler Rods and two BPS ultra light spin casting reels.

I am trying out some new fishing line from Bonehead Tackle as well. Praying we get lots of rain between now and the spawn.

both. A friend of mine from the lake lavon forum has invited to fish with him this spring. Might even do a crappie tournament. I am getting my yak cleaned up as well. I want to be ready. It's nice when people show you the ropes and point out all the potlickers who follow you around the lake.

My kids really like fresh fish so I have to make sure I do my part. When I finally get my boat restored I am taking them out for some fun.

Don't wait till Spring! You can fill a cooler with slabs right now. Spring Spawn is more fun though.

I like a cheap baitcasters on my longer rods. Can keep up with the depth I'm fishing alot better than with a spinning rod. I use spinning reels on my dock shooters and bridge rods though. Those pro anglers are tough rods! I like the 8ftrs!!

Plan on getting out and actually did try some crappie right after the DFW ice storm.

Yep if you find them in deep water they are usually stacked up pretty good and you can get a limit pretty quick.
Either way is a lot of fun.

                    Don't listen to this guy.

He is responsible for me buying all kinds of fishing stuff.

He takes me fishing and uses all long rods. So I go buy a few 10 footers. Show up next time with my new rods and he says we are using 4 footers today
I have a corner full of stuff because of him

At least I didn't tell you you would be crappie fishing for $30!! JJ told me 10 years ago let's go crappie fish Cooper where we used to see folks hauling in slabs all the time. You can go to BPS and get everything you need for $30!! That was prolly $10k ago!!! :0)

Oh well, I don't have the patience or desire to bass fish anymore!!!

Well I bought a kayak last year to go crappie fishing and it has snowballed into more rods and reels. These fancy jigs now.
