For the last ...I'd say about a year. Almost once a week. I'd leave for work at 4am to find that the trash pails had been tipped over and coons made a mess of things. I would clean what I could and text the wife and she would clean up the rest. I have set trap after trap. Have a heart, and leg holds...To no avail. The coons have been winning. I bought a Duke dog proof cuff type trap. Baited with Marshmallows and waited...and waited....and waited. I should have known CHRISTmas trash would bring them around. Was packing the car to head up to the country for the weekend. Saw hill kind of tore up on side of house. I took a look. AHAA! One fat boy coon locked into the cuff. He met Mr. Louisville slugger since no firearm discharge in this town is allowed. I took it up to the country, skinned it up and set a few 1.5 leg holds with its carcass. Lots of fox prints in the snow, but no fox in trap
. The crows like the coon carcass the most. What a racket they make.
So lets see if I have caught my trash pail culprit. EVERY trash pail I have has been chewed along the perimeter.

For a perspective on the size of this coon. This is my skinning table. Its fur was as prime as prime can be. Having it tanned.
