    Teaching my daughter to weld

I've got my kids for the week and my 12yo wanted to learn to weld, so I gave her a few lessons this morning.
We started with stick. She did ok, but didn't care for it.
Then we went to Mig. I have a S32-P suitcase that I hook up to my Trailblazer 325.
After a few times of her watching and teaching her the correct positions, she was ready to try.
She made a few beads on some scrap plate before welding two pieces together.

Here is her first attempt at joining two pieces together with the Mig.

Not too bad for her first time to weld.
    I'm pretty proud of her.

I've got to admit, I've always wanted to learn. Just never took the time. I've got a buddy that works in a machine shop and has offered to teach me, but I'm hardheaded. lol

Heck, I've welded a bunch of stuff with my MIG and rarely get a bead that looks that good! Did that welder have shielding gas? Most of my friends that are experienced at welding say it is a lot better with the gas, but I have never tried it.

The angle grinder is my friend when I weld!

Looks like she has a good teacher!

I can't even do that. That's cool she even wanted to do it. Most girls that age would have nothing to do with that. Your a dad doing it right!!!!

Yeah, I use C-25 mixed gas on the mig. 75%/25% argon/co2
Its definitely better to weld with shielding gas
