A new camera ready to deploy.

Well, since the need for a new target buck arose last weekend , I figured I'd put together a new camera to add to the arsenal. I used a Sony camera and Snapshot Sniper control board. I decided to go with a stainless pipe thru the body of the camera for security. All I have to do is run a Python Cable Lock though it and snug'r down. I'm using a new wide angle detection lens this time, so I'll see how it works. Now I just need to go down to the street corner and beg for some gas money so I can take it to the woods.....

Paul, throw it in your truck. I'll see you at some point sunday at church and we can take a quick look at it. Karen won't let me come to the shop...she's skeered!

It really varies from camera to camera by how they are powered. This unit will last about 3 weeks or take maybe 400pics. I just run mine off the (2)AA's rechargeables inside the camera. I never go more than about 3 weeks between cam checks, and with 6 cameras...400 pics per unit is ALL I ever want to sort through. If you use (2) lithium AA's, 6-8weeks and 800-1000 pics is not out of the question. Many guys wire auxillary power to the camera and have extra rechargeable batteries inside the case and can get 2 months with no problems.

This particular unit was designed to be mainly used on trails. It's heat/motion sensing area is about the same as the field of view of the camera. It has about 1.5 sec trigger, so unless an animal is moving pretty fast, it's gonna get it's picture taken.
