Any restaurant owners here or anybody who might know a place to buy used cooking oil to make biodiesel? I've got the stuff to make it, but I can't find the oil.

just go around and ask the local restaurant managers, my buddy here at the fire department makes his own, and he just went around and talked to all the managers about picking theirs up.

I would say do the same thing. Dont go to fast food places I heard there stuff is not that great for making biodiesel. Seafood places are though.

Getting harder to get as people are now paying them for their used oil and providing tanks to put it in.

smokin feathers thats the problem im having. i've called about 20 restaurants and all of them say that they already have a contract or somebody else already picks their's up.

I've got 110 gallons sitting in the barn wait for me to finish my reactor. Keep going and asking. New restaurants are the easiest, but you are never assured the owners buddy won't beat you out later. It is a constant battle, but when you learn the game, you can find enough oil to keep one or two trucks running.

How much is the 5 gallon oil at Sam's? Someone was saying it's like $1 gallon new and you don't have to go thru all that filtering and it's still much cheaper than diesel.

good luck in finding it. I know I saw a story on the news the other night about people in the Houston area stealing it. Several places have already been broken into. Some several times.

A fella I know that bought one of the machines to make diesel told me yesterday he can't even get the cookin oil from restaurants around DFW cause some big company is buying it all.

I heard Chinese restaurant's are good sources of fairly clean oil.

Sit down, have lunch (while it is not busy), and ask to speak to the manager, and be real polite. Don't go in in greasy overalls, but don't go in, in a suit.
