    Grinding your own beef hamburger

Who does it? What cut of meat to do you buy? I have really been thinking about doing this myself. I have a practically new grinder. It wouldnt take long. I thought about buying a brisket and grinding it up.

Brisket works great. Watch for the really good sales, usually around the big 3 summer holidays and stock up.

Brisket also works great when mixed with Deer.

It stays at $2/lb here. But that's a couple dollars a pound cheaper than any version of ground meat up here.

I always pick up briskest on sale and make ground meat. Saves money for sure.

I look on line every week for the meat sales . I grind all of our burger . Brisket are great , but they do not go on sale like they did in the past. I use any roast or steaks. I have gotten sirloin for 2.99. Even if it isn`t on sale, you know exactly what you are eating and what cuts of meat it is. Even if you buy briskets at regular price, considering that they are lean and you do not have to remove to much fat from them , it is better than buying burger off of the shelf and you know what cuts of meat you are eating .

I don't buy anything. I use the trimmings after cutting the steaks and roast I want unless it is a tuff calf then I will only keep what I will make into cutlets then grind the rest. I do the same with my deer.

I've never thought about grinding your own hamburger meat from brisket. That's genius

I usually grind a deer with one large brisket. We use more ground meat than anything else.

Well, I guess I am gonna try it soon. Is there any taste difference?
