What a way to thank a soldier!!

My nephew just got home for Christmas from boot camp in Georgia. He goes back for a couple weeks and graduates and is told he is getting assigned to Fort Carson in Colorado and then deployed to Afghanistan for a year. He has been invited to Ranger School and then to continue to Sniper School. He has already earned the Hawkeye Badge. I’m pretty proud of him, he has grown up to be a great young man.

My sister called me crying wanting to tell me what had happened to him today. He stopped on his way home with two of his sisters at the Woodlands Mall to look for an engagement ring. He has saved up a 1000.00 dollars for a ring and he plans on proposing to his girlfriend for Christmas.

He is standing at Kay’s Jewelry looking around and a lady stops and asks how he is doing and thanks him for his service. She then strikes up a conversation with him, asking him about the Army and his plans. He tells her about the Army, Ranger and Sniper school, proposing to his girlfriend. She thanks him again for his service and she walks away. Several minutes later she stops by again and hands him a card, tells him to have a Merry Christmas, wishes him luck and walks away. The lady working behind the counter walks up to him crying and tells him he needs to look in the card. He opens the card and it’s a 1000.00 gift card to Kay’s Jewelry. By this time several people who picked up on what was happening were standing around, thanking him and the manager of Kay’s tells him they are going to match the gift card. Well he got the ring and is ready for this weekend when he proposes.

This is a story that needs to be on the 10 oclock news instead of what they report as news.

                              That is so awesome.
