I have a hiatal hernia and acid reflux as well. The 2 most effective treatments I have done without surgery is I lost 20 lbs and trying to slim down more. The other is I eliminated all processed foods from my diet. No breads, grains. Try to stay paleo as possible. When it does flare up it is minor and it is because I ate or drank a bunch of what I shouldn't have. The Dr that dx me with it said the surgery was not in my best interests because of the failure rate and the size of the hernia. Clean diet practically eliminates my acid reflux.

Same here with my GI doctor. Wants me on this med and wants to try this med next time. Drop 40 more pounds. Wheat free diet. Yada yada

The surgeon I met with said point blank..... you can do all of that but the damage is done. Only way to reverse it is surgery.

GI doctor said we have other Rx meds first. Im tired of spending money on visits and Rx meeying deductible I can spend that deductible in 2014 and have a chance for permanent repair

I would be a little skeptical about it but 2 other guys here in Longview went through the same thing with the same GI doctor. Finally met up with Dr Wilson in Houston and fixed it. 5 years clean with no meds, free to eat whatever, sleep flat

However. Recovery with this procedure will be a rough one

Good luck to ya. Let us know when the surgery is so we can pray for ya. I understand wanting to get off the meds. Nexium was $50 a month for 3 years before I decided enough with the Rx drugs.
