    Speckled trout

Went to Seadrift with my 8yr old for the weekend and got blown around the bay for two days straight. Friday only managed one 24" red in back lakes and had my first run in, in over 20 yrs of wading, with a f'n jelly fish. Not an experience I would recommend. I did not want to fight the wind again on saturday but my boy was going to hear none of that. We found a steady trout bite in 4' of water over scattered shell, we probably caught over 40 fish with 12 making the 15" mark to 18". All the fish were caught on various colored touts.

Sounds like fun, except the jellyfish. I went down to the Land Cut and everyone was catching 15" + trout. I had fish repellant on that day, all mine were less than 15".

Sounds like you guys did very well considering this howling wind that has been blowing for weeks.

Yeah! I caught a LOT of grief about those little fish being cajun trout.

...and of course when they would catch a big sow around 19" inches, it would have to be measured several times and called out the total inches where I would hear it, ask my opinion if I thought the tape measurer was correct, and if my Snoopy tape measurer was working.

I couldn't believe it, as soon as my line would hit the water those pesky little trout would hit my line. Even switched poles and they still hit what ever I was holding. Sometimes you just have to smile and enjoy being on the water.
