    New Smart Phone...?

I havent had much luck with the IPhone, been using them since they came out. Its time to for a new one and I was just wondering if theres anything comparible out there. I'm in the Oilfield/Pipeline Service industry and we handle trucking, facility mntnc and construction. So im pretty hard on them, ive done all the differant cases, etc. My issues are service and durrability. I run the biggest booster available. Im stuck on the user friendly end of the IPhone, just want some feedback/opinions.Thanks GS

I recently went with the Samsung Galaxy S4. Service is great but I'm not sure about durability long term. The biggest reason I went with it is the fact you can replace the battery if it goes bad. If you are looking for durability check out Sonim phones (not a smart phone). They are 100% waterproof, you can run over them with a truck, and the battery lasts about 3 weeks.

We had blackberries and j had em for years before and they were the only phone I could get to hold up but of course company switched to iPhone and I hate it....I had a Motorola Droid smartphone with an otterbox as my personal and had great luck with it and I too am in the oilfield. I was going to give the new Motorola motor x but I broke mine and the wife broke hers so now we are in the market too

Any phone in a good case similar to the Otterbox Defender will take the daily abuse of field work. I have a Samsung GS 3 in an Otterbox defender and its takes good abuse. I can't recommend the GS 3 for field work as I think these phones dont have good signal strength in rural areas. I have my old Motorola Droid in a Defender case as well that is being used by my cousin. Same service with Verizon and the Moto will have 3-4 bars of 3G and the GS 3 is showing no service. I'm convinced this phone gets stuck trying to link with analog/3G and 4G types services and just defaults to the no service. If and when it does have a signal its weak and sporadic and the old Droid right next to it is fired up running good.

For remote and rural situations I think Motorola has the best antenna's in the business. I'm going back to Moto next upgrade. 8 month and counting

Now for a city slicer only phone the GS 3 rocks....

i switched to iphone last year cause all the other smartphones i had were crap and didnt last. Very happy i made the switch.

No suprise to me they give so many of the androids away when you sign a new contract

Iphones always hold their value. There is a reason.

I wouldn't say that the Samsung galaxy is durable, but with a good case it should do ok. My wife has one and seems to crack the screen often but she doesn't have a case for it.

I have the Nokia Lumia 920 and am impressed with it. Only time I've broke the screen is when I ran it over. Then it was still useable. Not as many case options for it, but I've found if you just get the screen protector that's all you need. Keys in pockets scratching the screen is the only problem I've had.

Samsung Galaxy they have the 4s active. Its just like the 4s but "water proof" and built in hard case. You might look into it.

Galaxy 4s active is water resistant not waterproof. My daughter has people always bringing them dead into the ATT store she works at after they were dropped or put in water. It is not like a lifeproof case. Not saying its a bad phone but it is not waterproof. Put a Lifeproof on your iPhone and it will stil slip in your pocket easily.

I've been happy with my iphones - love my magpul case because it slides in my pocket.

just traded in for a 5s and am impatiently waiting on my new magpul to arrive.

made it two days so far without breaking it, but had to get a temporary case tonight

                          And there is the answer.

The $14 or so Magpul case adds almost no size to the iPhone and put on one of the screen savers and you are good to go. The Magpul has a good grip on it but slips very easily into the pocket.
