    selling furs

so im looking at hunting and trapping a pretty good number of raccoons and coyotes this winter. I thought about going ahead and getting a trappers license and trying to sell some of the pelts, but I cant find anybody within 3 or 4 hours of glen rose that will buy them. never done this before, so any info will help. thanks

Go to rpoutdoors.com and go to "fur prices, trappers info, & how tos" and look at the Lewing Texas Fur Route. Ronnie goes go Hamilton, Stephenville, Hillsboro. Have only sold cats to him. Doubt Coyotes would be worth skinning.

so if I mess it up, say, cut a big hole in the hide or leave an ear behind or something does he still buy it at a discount or does he just not want it all?

ok. ive wanted to do something like this for a while, and this year it looks like I might be into dozens of coons and a good many coyotes, so im thinking this is a good year to see if I like it. I just feel bad throwing it all away if I can salvage something useful out of it.

does a snare usually tear a coyote up too much to be any good? is a 22 hole in the head gonna hurt things any? sorry for all the questions, I just wanna do it right if im gonna do it.

Sometimes snares do. But I still use them because they work really good for coyotes to lower numbers. As for the .22 in the head it's what I do.

I always do .22 behind the shoulder just my way. hair is longer holes barely show up at all in the body vs the head
