    Another Snake Thread

The Hog Nose has been posted recently but I just thought this was a cool snake. My son Michael actually caught this girl in the lumber store where he works.

Knowing that frogs and especially toads are a favorite food for these guys we could not resist offering her a little dinner.

She would not relax enough to be interested in the toad with us watching so we closed up the box and gave her a little privacy. We checked on the two about an hour later and this is what we found.

Growing up in east Texas we had these guys around all the time but this is the first I have seen since moving to Austin ten or eleven years ago. They are very animated snakes and fun to have around.

Lunch! I've watched dogs foam at the mouth playing with those toads.

Reason 101 to kill all snakes. They eat mosquito eating frogs.

I decided this snake would be cool to have around for a while and set up a nice habitat in my office at work. I have her in a 20 gal aquarium and have been feeding her once a week. Last week we were able to catch the carnage on video and I finally got around to posting on youtube. Fair warning though, it's a 5 minute clip but shows the whole process start to finish.
