Looks like my days of climbing towers might be coming to a close and off to my next chapter in life! My buddy is on the pipeline up in Oklahoma and wants me to come up there and has pretty much already sealed the deal. I just gotta wait til after the holidays to head up there. I know how to burn rods but I've always wanted to learn how to really lay a good bead down and I've heard this was the place to learn, plus the things you can with it afterwards are endless and you can pretty much go anywhere in the US and make money welding. I wanted to see if any of the GS'ers have any tips or advice on what to be on the lookout for? I know it's long hours and hard work but I've known that since high school so that's fine with me, more $$$ the way I see it! But any of y'all that have worked or working on the line now have anything y'all wanna throw my way I should know or be warned about I'd sure appreciate it in advance!

I have been pipelining for 14 years! I am in the office now and on the company side but know alot of people in the industry.
What contractor and what super are u working for?
Pipeliners are for the most part a tight nit family. Work hard, follow orders, keep your nose clean, and listen to the veterans and you will be taken care of.

grinding beads and draggin leads.....
Like squiggy said, gotta pass that test first and there is a whole buncha difference stackin dimes on pipe than there is on junk iron (anything other than pipe). Practice every night when you get back to the RV. Pay close attention to the guys fabricating and learn from them.
Good luck to ya!
