Well I went out to my HONEY HOLE today to put up my new feeder on the edge of a nice secluded 20 acre wheat field that I have hunted my WHOLE life and that is my favorite spot in the whole world to hunt and what did I find smack dab in the middle of my little wheat field------ A BIG ORANGE STAKE where they are fixing to drill a da** well!! I am so mad right now!! That really sucks and i was so ready to hunt that spot this year and now I gotta MOVE! Sorry for the venting but i am mad!!!!

dont sweat it. i hunt around em all the time. it actually benefits you. they make noise to help cover yours. it shouldnt take them more than a week to drill and set the unit. the deer will be just fine the time season rolls around. the only thing you have to be mad about is the 1/4 acre of wheat you wont have anymore

The deer will get used to the location, plus you get a nice road to your hunting spot. If you drive the same type truck as the pumper checking the well every day or two, you can drive right to your stand.Last edited by knucklehead; 06-06-2008, 09:35 PM.

most of the companies are exxtremely strict on firearms policies, etc..
but that doesn't stop bubba and joe bob from talking about the deer they saw leaving their tour, and coming back a few days later with a few beers in them to take a shot.
The best bet is put a gate up, and they'll choose an easier target.

I'd say your pretty lucky.
You KNOW NOW that there will be a well drilled there.
I also have a favorite stand and I also call it the "Honey Hole".
Well, back about 4 years ago, around the end of Sept, I loaded down the 4 wheeler with bags of corn to go fill my feeder. As I headed down the oil lease road, something wasn't looking right. About where I had my stand, I could see LOTS of daylight thru this E Tx river bottom woods. That's when I realized, a oil company drilled a well there. When I get to my spot, everything is gone, except for the tree I had my climbing stand in. It was still standing. By the way the bark was peeled off the base of the tree, a dozer went up to the stand and just peeled it off. My tripod feeder was no where to be seen. It was standing on the corner of this new well pad that they built. Here was deer season comin on fast and I had nuthin!!!
I contacted the oil company and the guy I talked to said he would look into it. He calls back and tells me that even the people who built the well pad admitted to seeing my stuff said they didn't touch it. Told me they had problems with theives down there themselves and they wouldn't be replacing any of my stuff. Told me I could presume futher if I wanted. I ended up lettin it go. UNTILL............................................ ......
They left a pile of drill stem pipe on another well location. When I found out that this oil company own it, well, you can say now, that they're paid in FULL!!!
You'll be pee'oed for a while, but you will learn to deal with it. I just re-built all my stuff and moved it back in the woods a little farther. And just this past year, I seen the biggest buck on this place EVER at my "honey hole". And I've been huntin this place for 17 yrs.
