    Acetylene bottle rack?

I'm starting a welding skid and have heard and seen several different ways that's ok to store the acetylene bottle on a rack. I personally would like to store both bottles oxy and acetylene at an angle, not straight up and definitely not laying down but right in between at an angle is this ok for the acetylene? I worked for several years welding for people and they had it set up like that and it was fine but Id like to know which is correct or it both straight and angled are correct. What do all the experts say?

    bottle rack

Well, you definitely want to use acetylene with the bottle upright, should even let it sit upright a little while before using if it was laid horizontal. The gas is dissolved in acetone, and the bottle has a spongy material in it and you can get liquid in your regulator and lines. Oxygen bottle will work fine laid down,
but think it would be safer to have all bottles vertical. I think OSHA regs allow bottles to be laid down only temporarily while moving on a job or something, not transporting.

Being it's on a skid, doesn't really matter, just whatever is convenient for you.
On my truck, I have my oxygen bottle laying in a rack horizontal and my acetylene bottle in a compartment standing vertical, so when I hook up my gauges, they are right there together.

Have been in steel Buisness for 30 years, and have used acetylene bottles laying horizontal many, many, many times with no issue whatsoever. Of course that was before OSHA was so strong, and safety became such an issue.
Still don't know how everyone didn't get killed before OSHA.

I understand not laying the bottle down flat horizontal.. I was wandering about building a rack to store both bottles at an angle upright not straight vertical my intention is to keep gauges and bottles close together.

Sqiggy do you have a pic?

I would keep it over 45 degrees and you should be fine, 60 degrees would be better. If it's too down you can have acetone gte in your hoses and regulators and it will eat the seals and hoses up faster and can cause a fire hazard.

You can make your leads and your hoses last 10 times as long if you make it where they are out of the weather when not in use.

No but I can get one.
Another thing to keep in mind, make it easy to load and un-load. The reason I have mine the way it is.

That easy to load and unload makes a big difference as we get older. Those bottles seem heavier as I get older.
