    Chevron Internship

I'm getting a Masters at A&M right now and I just received a paid internship offer from Chevron for next summer in Houston!! I am excited about the opportunity since it could lead to a full time position upon graduation.

Anyone on the GS work for Chevron or worked there in the past?

What is your major? Working for someone like Chevron is a major home run for someone just starting out in the oil business (I assume). A paid internship is a wonderful thing. Make the most of it and I'll bet they make you a very good offer when you finish school. Good luck!

my buddy worked for weatherford and said all interns usually get an offer out of school. unless they are completely a retard. Not sure what the money would be starting out but might be decent. good luck and work your butt off.

Internship is the most important thing a student can do. Opened a lot of doors for me.

Thanks and my major is Environmental and Occupational health . I will be a interning as a health and environment safety (HES) specialist. I'm hoping for a great offer since my five year plan has an awesome bow hunting only lease in it!!

Congrats. Not sure about chevron but the interns here at Shell get treated very well. Most get offers upon graduation.

I think you are right. So far my salary and other expenses that will be paid for pretty much covers everything but food! I applied to shell but didn't pass the hour long strongly disagree-strongly agree assessment.

Here at Hess they do not offer all the interns jobs. At the end of the summer they all give their reviews to a panel of "experts". They are graded and the top few get offers. I have seem some sharp interns not get offers because they could not present what they did over the summer.

Good luck and work on your presentation at the end.

Chevron is a good company. I've been at a number of Oil & Chemical companies over the last 18 years. My best advice is to listen to your operators and remember that you don't know anything. Yes, thats right. Nothing, zippo, nada. That said, congrats and let the real learning begin. All too many young engineers come into the industry with lofty ideas that don't hold up in the real world. Here are four more things to remember. That white smoke over the plant is steam... yes water vapor. The slight odor inside the gates is the smell of money. Absolutely nobody outside of the front office drives a Prius. And for some unknown reason, they schedule turn-a-rounds during bow season. Good luck

Congrats! I have worked for Chevron Chemical, and now for Chevron Pipeline. They treat their people well. Let me know if I can help you out.

Any idea who you will be interning under? I know quit a few execs there. They have all been there for years and make plenty of money. Definitely a place you can work hard and do well for yourself, congrats on the internship.
